PHOTOGRAPHIC SCULPTURES

MULTIPLICITY

Photographic and sculptural work made and exhibited Dublin in 2015. This work is made of traditional darkroom photographs printed on a transparent glass. The plinth is made from the solid wood and was handcrafted by myself.

TRANSIENCE

Transience is a photographic and sculptural installation consisting of three parts. Part one is a mechanism built from a solid wood and steel. There is a motor attached to the cogs and rotates them. The image collapses into abstraction and after approximately 30 minutes it comes back to its original state. Part two is made of multiple lenses that are projecting the surroundings onto a white wall. Part three consists of wet plate collodion photographs on glass. This work is inspired by photographic processes, as well as the elusiveness of reality and visual experience, which is subject to an active and constantly changing process of perception. Visual experience is caused by optical illusions that occur naturally and is based on the laws of physics. This work refers to perception, time and the tactile nature of the photograph, and lies somewhere between dream, documentation and experiment.

KALEIDOSCOPES

Kaleidoscopes is a series of sculptures based on the principals of Camera Obscura. All pieces are made of stainless steel and glass, they vary in sizes and hold different amount of lenses. Each one acts as a projector of the surroundings. I trained in welding for the purpose of this project and all sculptures were made by hand. Kaleidoscopes were exhibited at the Sculpture in Context in the National Botanic Gardens in Dublin in 2017.

LIGHTBOX

This work was exhibited at the Sculpture in Context at the National Botanic Gardens in 2019. Lightbox is made of custom laser cut marine plywood and glass: two large sheets one clear one satin. Inside there are glass lenses that vary in size. These lenses reflected the surroundings onto the satin glass. The openings on both sides are cut out in order for the wind to enter the box and rotate the lesens to reflect the fleeting nature of reality.
